I think my standard practice is just going to be to have a tripple entry day for every day I miss. The fiancee’s brother was around yesterday so we played more Rock Bank.
A few more quick comments:
- The song/set selection interface on the whole is inferior to Guitar Heroes. We were flummoxed by the fact that our band leader was the drummer and couldn’t find a way to play with two guitars and singing. The manual is fairly worthless for this sort of thing. I realize a lot of these issues are introduced by being multiplatform, but that’s no excuse for not providing platform specific stuff in the manual.
- In Rock Band, you can collect energy towards the bonus mode even while in bonus mode. This isn’t true of Guitar Hero. Rock Band’s method is superior.
- While bonus mode (overdrive) multipliers apply to all, each player earns point towards the bonus mode separately. The same applies to the multipliers you earn by not messing up. I think this is a bit superior to Guitar Hero’s coop mode in which all of these are shared. That said, it doesn’t make as big of a difference when you only have two people.
- I got my set lists mixed up in a previous post. Rock Band does have ’Don’t Fear the Reaper’ and more important they have a cow-bell! That is to say, for some songs there’s bits where you can tap the microphone to emulate triangle playing, cow-bells, or the like.
No more Rock Band for me for a few weeks, but I may throw up a full review once I have it in my apartment for a while. My singing could use the solo practice.
