Finally got my doctor’s appointment today. Looks like I’ve got a pinched L2 nerve alright but there may also be something else wrong with me. Anyways, we’re getting more tests and hopefully I’ll have some results by the end of the week.
It’s one of those situations where I do thank God I have healthcare. The costs of my appointments, of my tests, and of standard resulting treatments are all likely to be covered. This is basically what I want for all Americans and based on the experience in France and Germany it should be something we can afford without making a huge number of rationing sacrifices.
I know some of the privileges I enjoy are zero-sum. The fact that I get them means someone else doesn’t have them or has them to a lesser degree. But in many other areas, privileges can be positive sum. Far many more people could live a life that gives them multiple opportunities to pursue their dreams by reducing the amount of attention they need to pay to just scraping by. That’s the kind of world I’d like to build, because it’s one I’m very grateful to have lived in.
