Blogroll addition: Ross Douthat
Bit of follow-up on the Douthat post

Good riddance

Glad to hear that Obama had the sense not to offer Illinois’s gov a bribe to get his favorite appointed to the Senate.  Here’s hoping the rumor that Rahm Emanuel dropped a dime on him is true (Hat tip, commenter over at Coate’s blog).

Also congrats to Republican Representative-elect Cao.  First Vietnamese-American in Congress, that’s pretty cool.  The indicted Rep. Jefferson perhaps can now use some of his freezer space for ice cream as comfort food.

Finally, I hope we can resolve some of the issues around Rep. Rangel sooner rather than later.  I haven’t been following them that closely, but the tax loophole thing definitely looks worse than the tax charges. To be clear, even if he is guilty, he’s not accused of anything quite as shady as the governor or Rep. Jefferson are indicted for doing.  But Ways and Means is one of the most powerful positions in the House, we don’t need a repeat of the issues that helped lead to our loss in ‘94.
