From my friend David C. I get this match up. I won’t bother to summarize, but I think the category by category breakdowns are fair and show good knowledge of both shows. Worth reading if you’re into that sort of thing.
I won’t spoil who DVICE picks, but I’d go with the Enterprise. The general tech level is just much higher. That said if the Battlestar can call on some erstwhile Cylon ally support you could have a much nearer thing by neutralizing much of Enterprise’s computer based advantages. Scotty and Spock could certainly find a work around by the end of the episode, but that would certainly buy some time.
But that’s the tech version. By narrative logic… I’d say Galactica wins. It’d be more fun having occupying Galactica crewman wandering around the Enterprise than vice versa. That said, you’d want to send Bones and Spock over to snark about their inferior methods but that can be arranged even if Galactica wins the initial sortie. Probably the first Cylon attacks takes out the teleporters before they can be used, allowing the Enterprise crew to reek havoc once they beat the virus. Also, I think Kirk as Adama’s prisoner would just be more fun, Adama would be too stoic.
Episode one ends as Kirk gets ported out or an Enterprise team gets ported into the command room or Adama’s quarters to turn the table just before the main threat emerges and they realize they’re all on the side.
Update: A more even match-up would be Galactica vs. B5. Not sure how I’d handicap that one.
